ˇ@ˇ@This town was called Meili Village, then changed to Hsinhsin
Village. Taokuan Year 30 it was renamed to Shientsaiwung. Until Tacheng
Year 9, it was named Kuanhsi because it had the same pronunciation as
Kuanhsi in Japan. Kuanhsi has beautiful mountains and reivers and it is
the best residence. In Kuanhsi, there are the most people who enjoy
their longevity more than any other villages of this county. Therefore,
it is known as a village of longevity.
ˇ@ˇ@Villagers here are very concerned about the maintenance of relics.
The existing old houses include family Cheng, Luo, Fan and Luo from
Nanshan, with numerous delicate stone carving and wooden sculptures. In
addition, this village is the first one in the nation to build up
recreational parks, such as Liufu Village, Golden Bird, Jinshien and Bat
Cave, which accelerate the development of tourist resources in this
village. After Taiwan Highway No. 3 is extended and the traffic on 2nd
Highway of Northern Taiwan starts to run, the convenient traffic net
makes this village become an ideal place for campus of famous
university, for high-tech industrial parks and golf courses.
